Quick & simple ways to post to social media for those
of us who have more important things to do.
Here at Ad Design, I have the responsibility of making and posting our digital content, but I've been slacking. The past couple of weeks have been very busy and I haven’t had time to create content. Can you relate? In the digital age, it is well known that social media is practically essential to reaching customers. Following are quick and simple ways to consistently update your content without having to waste your company's valuable time.
Document Your Day
The simplest way to create social media content is to document your day. You may show what a typical day in the office looks like, what projects you’re currently working on, or introduce a new team member. To do this you can utilize stories through Facebook and Instagram. Stories are posts that have a time limit; your audience can only access it for, typically, a 24 hour period. I enjoy using Instagram stories in which I take advantage of the tools that are available. You can add filters, effects, text, and stickers to up your story game. Engage customers with polls and questionnaires that pertain to your product or services. Use stories as much as you want without bombarding your audience with photos and posts.
Twitter posts can also be updated multiple times a day, as the content cannot exceed 140 characters. Keep your posts simple, clear, and informative. “Take 15% off your purchase today when you use code C15,” or “Have you met our newest coworker @johndoe15.” Add tags (@) and hashtags (#) to your posts to make them more accessible to a wide audience.
Photo Editing Tip
Not all of us are professional, or even semi-okay, photographers (me), so try using a free photo editor to upgrade the pictures you use in your content. I enjoy using EPIK; a simple and fun photo editing tool that takes no time at all. The top photo to the right is the photo I started with, and the bottom is the edited version using EPIK; just look at those results! It’s free in the app store for iPhone users.
Be Inspirational
Who doesn’t love a sappy inspirational quote? In fact, I post quotes fairly often using hashtags such as #mondaymotivation and #wisdomwednesday. It’s best to stick to quotes or specific words that correspond with your business. Ad Design, Inc. is a marketing and promotional company, so I typically search for quotes that include words such as business, success, or teamwork. A florist might look for uses of the words bloom or growth.
https://www.brainyquote.com/ is a website that I frequent at least once a week. Find quotes on popular topics, such as life and friendship, and by popular authors, such as Mark Twain. I enjoy browsing for a bit to find the perfect words to go on my selected image. The great part is, whatever background you use doesn’t necessarily have to coordinate with your quote, just pick one you find attractive and will catch the eye of your audience.
Utilize Free Design Tools
As a graphic designer, I most often use Adobe Illustrator for designing logos, invites, etc. But for social media content, I’ve found that Canva makes it quick and easy for me to keep our content and branding consistent. The basic Canva account is free, and I’ve found it’s really all you need.
Video Trends
Short videos such as the ones you see through TikTok and YouTube Shorts are on the up trend. You can utilize these platforms to your business’s advantage by showing your audience what you do, introducing them to your employees, and presenting them with new products and services. Personally, I enjoy seeing how things are made and the process in which a creator uses to get to the finished product; I bet your own audience is similar. Your customers want to know they are getting quality, especially when they’re paying a pretty penny. That is why I love “shorts;” it’s a quick way to show your audience exactly how it’s done.
YouTube Shorts is a great way to get started on the video trends. Starting a channel on YouTube is a simple process and makes editing and uploading medium quality videos fun; you can do it all within the application on your phone. Be sure to make your “shorts,” well, short to keep your audience engaged.
Social media management is a full time job within itself, but is completely necessary to establishing an internet presence. You don’t have to spend hours on Instagram and Twitter to be noticed. Little things here and there will make a big difference to those who follow you and you may get a few new followers for your efforts. Try these tips and if all else fails, call Ad Design! Happy posting!
Happy everyday!
